Savannah Guthrie Remains Off “Today” Amid Ongoing Search for Mother

Savannah Guthrie will remain off the “Today” show for the “foreseeable future” as the desperate search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues, sources tell Page Six.

The 54-year-old journalist is still in Tucson, Arizona, as the search for her 84-year-old mother enters its 15th day. Unsurprisingly, this situation has sparked speculation about her future on NBC’s morning program, where she has been a co-anchor since July 2012.

“The entire show and network is rallying together in support of our beloved colleague and friend as we navigate this unimaginable time,” an NBC source told Page Six.

Savannah and her mother Nancy have often shared warm moments on the “Today” set, but the current crisis has put her career on temporary pause.

Authorities continue their investigation, with multiple gloves found near Nancy Guthrie’s home, and DNA recovered from one glove potentially linked to a suspect. Investigators are also using high-tech Bluetooth signal detection to locate Nancy’s pacemaker, amid an escalating search effort.

Savannah’s contract with NBC, reportedly worth $7 million per year and extending well past this year, is approaching renewal. However, insiders stress that discussing her professional future is “hurtful” at a time like this.

“Everyone at ‘Today’ is taking this day by day, and of course giving Savannah the grace, time and support she needs,” a source said. “We all pray constantly for a resolution.”

During Savannah’s absence, former co-anchor Hoda Kotb will temporarily fill her seat on the show. Kotb, 61, stayed in the U.S. instead of traveling to Milan, Italy, to cover the Winter Olympics, just as Craig Melvin, Savannah’s current co-anchor, did.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off at her Tucson home by Savannah’s sister, Annie, and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, following a daily dinner. Surveillance footage has reportedly captured a masked suspect holding flowers near the area.
